Kuo believes that Apple will introduce the new MacBook this year, but it will simplify its notebook lines next year to merge the MacBook Pro with the new “MacBook,” leaving just four models: 11 inch and 13 inch MacBook Airs, and 13 inch and 15 inch MacBooks.

In order to save space in its systems, Apple has combined USB 2.0 and 3.0 connections, but has also fallen to relying on its Thunderbolt connections to provide the we/O connectivity from olderMac systems.

Apple’s migration to Thunderbolt and DisplayPort may require a separate adapter for VGA or DVI connections, but it definitely reduces the chunk factor.

Apples new Thunderbolt adapters look like the white dongles of most of its other adapter offerings.

Belkins cable measures in at one meter, which is exactly half the length of Apples Thunderbolt cable.

The list included 13 “standalone kits” or accessories, as well as 14 new Mac products, including a new AirPort Express, new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops, as well as new iMac and Mac Pro desktops.

With the inclusion of Thunderbolt in its systems, what used to be Apple’s reluctance to keep a port or two has become an opportunity for it to be rid of these altogether, especially since Thunderbolt allows for the addition of any we/O technology that is needed by the user.

Apples Thunderbolt Display (ATD) is certainly one of the more unique Thunderbolt peripherals as it functions as a dock as well, but at $999 its quite expensive unless youre already looking for a gorgeous 27" 2560×1440 display.

A new “MacBook” would give Apple a total of six notebook models to unveil at WWDC, including two new MacBook Pros, two new MacBook Airs, and now two models of this new “MacBook” model.

The conference will highlight the latest operating systems for mobile devices and desktop computers, iOS and the soon to be released OS X Mountain Lion.

While it is unlikely one could put a Thunderbolt only system into FireWire target disk mode using the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, it should be possible to read an older FireWire system in target disk mode via Thunderbolt with such an adapter.
